250,000 sign petition to get Tony Blair’s Knighthood rescinded

Thousands of Brits have signed a petition to get Tony Blair knighthood rescinded.

The decision to make Tony Blair a Sir has been met with anger by many on social media, as the former Prime Minister was branded a ‘war criminal’.

Sir Tony has long faced a backlash over his decision to lead the UK into Iraq and Afghanistan, which cost the lives of 179 British personnel as well as many more civilians.

But it was announced on Friday that he had been appointed to the Order of the Garter as a Knight Companion.

Since the announcement, an online petition which calls for ‘Tony Blair’s Knighthood to be rescinded’, has already received over 250,000 signatures.

It’s an incredible achievement considering the petition was only made 36 hours ago. The next target is to reach half a million signatures.
