The BBC are reportedly planning to replace Gary Lineker as the face of their football coverage and have identified former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas as the ideal successor.
Lineker, 59, has fronted the corporation’s flagship football show Match of the Day since 1999 when he replaced Des Lynam, though his long reign could be coming to an end.
Lineker is currently the BBC’s top-paid star with a £1.75million salary.
According to the Daily Mail, senior figures at the BBC are already preparing for life after Lineker and have earmarked Jenas as the man to fill his shoes.
This information came from the Daily Mail but the BBC has not yet confirmed if or when they plan to replace Lineker.
