Boris Johnson says 405,000 people have volunteered to help the NHS in just 24 hours!

The Prime Minister has revealed 405,000 people responded to the call to volunteer for the NHS within just 24 hours after the appeal was launched last night.

‘When we launched the appeal last night, we hoped to get 250,000 volunteers over a few days,’ he said.

‘But I can tell you that in just 24 hours, 405,000 people have responded to the call.’

“They will be absolutely crucial in the fight against this virus,” he said.

Boris Johnson compared the number of people who had volunteered to the population of Coventry, as he thanked the public for answering the appeal.
