Boris says he’s going the Pub for a Pint on Monday

Boris Johnson says shops and beer gardens will reopen in England from next Monday.

Speaking at a Downing Street press conference following a special bank holiday meeting of Cabinet to approve the moves, Mr Johnson said that the next easing of lockdown rules can go ahead on 12 April, the earliest date allowed in his roadmap to recovery.

This will mean non-essential retail, gyms, hairdressers and beauty salons reopening their doors.

Mr Johnson said that he would himself be going to a pub on Monday and “ I will be cautiously but irreversibly raising a pint of beer to my lips”.
