Forecasters have warned the storm could be one of the strongest since the ‘Burns Day’ Storm in 1990 and are urging Brits to stay indoors.

The Met Office has now issued a ‘danger to life’ amber warning’ as Storm Eunice  is expected to make landfall on Friday.

It is also likely the Met office will issue an extremely rare red weather warning at some point over the next 24 hours due to dangerous winds which are expected to reach over 100mph in parts of England and Wales.

The storm is also expected to bring up to 30 cms of snowfall and ‘blizzard-like’ conditions across some parts of Northern England and Scotland on Friday.

A yellow snow warning has been issued by the Met Office for Friday between 3am-6pm.
