A total of 1019 people have now died from coronavirus in the UK, with 260 people dying in the last 24 hours.
Government advisers have warned that even tougher lockdown and social distancing measures may be put in place as 17,089 people have now tested positive for Covid-19 in the UK.
NHS England has said the victims were aged between 33 and 100 years old. All but 13 of them had underlying health conditions.
Testing for NHS workers who have symptoms of the virus or live with with people who do is also due to begin this weekend, starting with critical care doctors and nurses.
