Donald Trump not guilty of all impeachment charges

President Donald Trump has been acquitted of all impeachment charges after the Senate voted against convicting him for abuse of power and obstruction of congress.

Only 48 senators voted in favour of removing the president from office, far less than the 67 that would have been required to secure the necessary two-thirds majority.

Every Democratic senator voted to impeach the president, while every Republican senator except 2012 presidential nominee Mitt Romney voted against.
