Hundreds of shooting stars to light up sky tonight

A meteor shower will light up the sky across the UK tonight, with shooting stars every hour.

The Lyrid meteor shower will appear on Sunday night and will peak on Tuesday night into the early hours of Wednesday.

The best time to watch the meteor shower is between midnight and dawn and the meteors will appear in the east.

The average Lyrid shower has around 15 to 20 meteors per hour, depending on how clear the sky is.
