A leaked e-mail emerged tonight showing 100 Downing Street staff were invited to a ‘bring your own booze’ party during the first lockdown.
The message said they should “make the most of the lovely weather”, even though the rest of the country wasn’t allowed to meet more than one person outdoors.
Witnesses said about 40 staff attended the party on 20 May 2020, including Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie.
There were long tables laden with drink, crisps, sausage rolls and other picnic food.
In an email, Mr Reynolds wrote: “Hi all, after what has been an incredibly busy period it would be nice to make the most of the lovely weather and have some socially distanced drinks in the No10 garden this evening.
“Please join us from 6pm and bring your own booze!”
