The baby was discovered in a brown garden waste bin on an estate at about 5pm on Sunday.

Reports say a concerned resident heard crying coming from the bin and after opening the lid found the baby among grass cuttings.

The boy is being treated in hospital. His young mum has also been traced and was taken to hospital where she is being cared for by relevant authorities.

After being alerted just before 5pm on Sunday there was a large response by Humberside Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Police officers were seen conducting house to house enquiries and interviewing shocked residents.

An East Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 4.58pm on June 19, to a private address in Grimsby.

“The caller reported a medical emergency. We sent two crewed ambulances and two patients were taken to Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital.”
