Number of UK coronavirus cases jumps to 590 as death toll hits 10

The UK’s coronavirus death toll has today jumped to 10 and another 130 brits have been infected with the virus – taking the infection toll to 590.

NHS officials revealed both patients had underlying conditions.

One of the patients was in their sixties and died in hospital in Essex.

The other was an 89-year-old who passed away in London.

It comes after Boris Johnson today faced warnings the coronavirus crisis could become out of control unless he takes drastic action to stop the spread of the virus.

The PM is chairing the emergency Cobra committee where the UK’s tactics will shift from ‘containing’ the virus to ‘delaying’ the spread which is expected to peak within weeks.
