It may still be August but the white stuff may be set to fall this weekend. Before that however the UK is facing an unusually strong storm named earlier by the Met Office as ‘Storm Francis’.
This looks set to bring wind speeds reaching up to 70 MPH with 40-50 MPH gusts experienced quite widely across England & Wales. As this storm clears away through Wednesday the country experiences a brief window of better weather until an area of low pressure moves across the UK on Friday bringing more rain.
As this clears the winds are drawn from the North and temperatures take a tumble. Some areas in Northern England and Scotland will experience there first frosts since spring in the early hours of Saturday however for Ben Macdui, Aberdeenshire the first flakes of snow will fall.
