Snow to hit parts of the UK tonight as temperatures fall below freezing

The Met Office has warned snow and sleet is expected to fall across northern England and Scotland tonight.

Temperatures will fall below freezing in the north tonight, although it will stay milder further south.

There are also yellow warnings in place for ice between 9pm this evening and 11am on Sunday.

The areas affected include Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow and Bangor, in north Wales.

The Met Office warned the slippery conditions could cause travel disruption.

“Saturday night could bring five to ten centimetres on higher ground in Scotland and the north of England, and perhaps a centimetre on lower ground in the northeast.”

There is also a chance of more snow next week, on Monday, further showers will affect the north and west, wintry on hills.
