Snow Warning issued for Boxing Day!

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for Snow and strong winds across the UK on Boxing Day.

It looks like an area of rain will turn into snow on the higher parts of North West England and Scotland, above 100-300 metres.

Strong winds with gusts of 35 to 45mph, could cause blizzard conditions in some places. Disruption to travel is likely.

The Met Office said: ‘’As an area of rain moves northwards, it will turn to snow over the higher parts of Northern England, and then southern and central Scotland.

Temporary blizzard-like conditions may be encountered above around 300 or 400 metres elevation. These conditions will probably move into some hillier central parts of Scotland during Sunday morning, while snow turns back to rain further south.’’
