Thousands sign petition to save teacher’s job after Prophet Muhammad Cartoon row

Thousands of people have signed a petition calling for the reinstatement of the RE teacher who was suspended after showing Prophet Muhammad cartoons in class.

Outraged protesters have gathered outside Batley Grammar for the past two mornings demanding the teacher who showed the images in a lesson be sacked.

The school has since apologised and said they are currently working on resolving the issue.

The teacher, who has also apologised, was suspended pending an independent formal investigation and is believed to be under police protection.

The petition, set up by a student calls for the teacher to keep his job at the school. More than 30,000 people have already signed it. Update on Saturday at 15;30 now over 40,000 signatures!
