Toys R Us to return to UK high street in weeks

Toys R Us is officially coming back to the high street in a matter of weeks, and if that’s not enough to get your inner child excited then I don’t know what will.

Full Story:

The toy retailer is set to open nine high street stores across the UK in partnership with WHSmith.

For the first time since 2018, shoppers will be able to test out toys in-store rather than just buying online, and parents will once again learn what it’s like to fight tooth and nail to convince their kids to come home.

Customers visiting the nine new high-street stores will also be able to browse through the most popular brands, from Barbie and Lego to Fisher Price and Hot Wheels.

Shops will be divided into sections by age, interest, and category, and decked out with interactive experiences, activities, and demonstration tables.

And, naturally, a life-size Geoffrey the Giraffe sculpture will be waiting to greet shoppers at the door.

After looking through the impressive range of products in-store, customers will be able to digitally order their toys of choice.

The stores, which are set to open their doors to the public as soon as Saturday, 10 June, can be found at the following locations:

  • Canterbury (St George Street)
  • Chelmsford (High Street)
  • Cheltenham (High Street)
  • Cwmbran (The Mall)
  • Oxford (Cornmarket Street)
  • Poole (Towngate Shopping Centre)
  • Reading (Broad Street)
  • Solihull (Mell Square)
  • York (Monks Cross retail park)
