Woolweed As Police Find Massive Cannabis Farm After Raiding Abandoned Woolworths Store

Police in the Midlands were shocked to discover thousands of cannabis plants when they raided an abandoned Woolworths Store.

The store was located in Longton, Staffordshire, and was raided after passers by reported a strong odour coming from the abandoned building.

Once the Police got inside the store they discovered a crop of 2,647 plants inside which had an estimated street value of £2.6 million.

The shop had been divided into 14 separate rooms with bright lamps to assist the growth of the illegal plants.

The Grower of the plants has been identified as Thoan Hoang who was arrested on July 10 and has now been jailed for 16 months at the Stoke-on-Tent Crown Court.

He also claimed he did not know what the plants were, found the smell unbearable, and wanted to leave after being bitten by insects.
